Course abstract
This course aims at giving the foundation knowledge of Probability and Statistical Inference. In particular, it gives details of theory of Estimation and testing of hypothesis. Both theoretical aspect will be discussed and practical problems will be dealt with in great detail. This course will help students and practitioners of statistics at both UG and PG level. This course will also serve as a foundation course for students workingon Machine Learning.

Niladri Chatterjee
Niladri Chatterjee is a Professor of Statistics and Computer Science in the Department of Mathematics, IIT Delhi. He possesses B.Stat and M.Stat degree from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India. He is also M.Tech in Computer Science. His PhD is from UCL, London. He has more than 20 years of research and teaching experience in Statistical Modeling, and Natural Language Processing and Text Data Analytics. He has guided six Ph.D thesis in the above areas, and six students are currently pursuing their Ph.D under his supervision. He has about 100 research publications to his credit.More info
